Who we are
The Catherine St Guest House is a five-room boutique guest house at 332 Catherine Street, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect from guests and visitors, how we use it, and the choices you have. What we collect
We collect the information needed to host you: your name, phone number, email address, reservation dates and preferences, and any details you share with us when you call, text, or email. Payments are processed by our booking and payment providers — we do not store your card numbers on this website.
Phone calls and our virtual assistant
Calls to our main line may be answered by Taylor, our virtual phone assistant. Calls are recorded and transcribed so we can act on your requests, arrange callbacks, and improve our service. If you leave a callback number with us, we use it for that callback and related follow-up about your stay — nothing else.
When you ask for a callback, a member of our team returns your call from our business line. Text messages you send to our number are received by our team and used only to respond to you.
How we use your information
We use your information to manage reservations, answer inquiries, return calls you request, and send messages related to your stay (such as confirmations and check-in details). We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use your phone number or email for marketing without your consent. Phone numbers and text-messaging consent are never shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Service providers
Like most small businesses, we rely on trusted providers who process information on our behalf: our reservation system, telephony and messaging providers, email services, and website hosting. Each receives only what it needs to provide its service to us and is not permitted to use your information for other purposes.
Retention
We keep reservation records for as long as needed for bookkeeping and legal obligations. Call recordings, transcripts, and message threads are kept only as long as they are useful for handling your request and improving our service, then deleted in the ordinary course.
Your rights
Under Canada's PIPEDA and British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act, you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or ask us to delete information we no longer need. Email info@catherinestguesthouse.ca and we will respond promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services change; the latest version will always live at this address. Effective date: July 8, 2026.
